Fakir is a contemporary blackletter typeface, with a set of 11 edgy text and display fonts, ranging from tight and heavy to light and wide. Fakir is a Hindu ascetic or religious mendicant, especially one who performs feats of magic or endurance. The well known feats performed by them include sitting steadily on a bed of nails and walking on burning coals. Blackletter was a script used throughout Western Europe from approximately 1150 to 1500. It continued to be used for the German language until the 20th century. Fakir, a blackletter with a holy kiss is a contemporary interpretation of gone letterforms with origin in blackletters. More precisely, we based the construction on broad nib textura, with lots of broken, edgy, interrupted strokes - try to sit on a nail bed and you'll know why fakirs like to read just these kind of fonts!
