The kana character design of MaruminShinano is based on a brush-script style from the age of hot metal type, but adds a touch of elegance in the movement of brush strokes, as well as a brilliantly polished texture. This typeface fits a wide range of purposes. The same Ideographic (kanji) characters are shared by all the Marumin variations. The design of kanji characters of Marumin is based on the Mincho type style in Japan, but it has stroke elements with rounded features. The terminals of its horizontal and vertical strokes, dots, tome and harai stroke shapes are all rounded. Marumin establishes a new category of “Rounded Minchotai” with seven kana variations in total.

Kinuta Font Factory’s font development starts from our inherited traditional letter forms and introduces modern elements. Each of our fonts is unique and novel, but retains orthodox characteristics – leaving you feeling the excitement of discovery with a feeling of comfort. We also now accept orders for custom variable fonts, which can be used effectively for display purposes and emphasis in texts.
