I recently found out that many people don’t know about this part of Italian art history: futurism. Many graphic designers and artists created this social movement in the early 20th century. It was an Italian phenomenon, though there were parallel movements in Russia, england and elsewhere. Filippo Tommaso Marinetti launched the movement in his futurist manifesto, and the most important artists were Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carrà, Giacomo Balla, Gino Severini and the composer Luigi Russolo.
The
Luxx font was born in 2010 after studying this amazing Italian period.
Luxx is based on a style of lettering often seen on Italian art deco posters and advertising of the 1930s. This font is very modern, and is inspired by the “velocitá-speed” of this artistic period.
Luxx is perfect for when you want to use eye-catching big texts for anything from posters and retro-advertisements, and art, but it´s especially striking for printed projects.
