SB Expo was designed for use at small sizes online. Like SB Websnap it was intended to be used where space is at a premium, such as in banner adverts and photo credits, but SB Expo takes a different approach to saving space. It was designed for use in pixel graphics and as a Flash compatible pixel font at a time when designers were experimenting with ways to improve the look and feel of a fledgling internet. It is a condensed pixelfont but retains a high degree of legibility, even at small sizes. It is optimised for use at 10px but it also works well at 20px as a typeface for subheadings, partly due to its narrow letterforms. More recently, a rounded pixelfont version was added, opening it up to usage as a display typeface on modern high-DPI screens.
