I took a picture of some letterforms in Ronda de la Frontera, Spain. Ronda is home to the oldest bullring in Spain. On the walls in that bullring, there are letterforms that say “
Sombra” or “Shade”. They are meant to delineate the more expensive seats in the shade, or the cheaper seats in the sun. Its quirky forms are meant to evoke a sense of hand painted signage. Its thorn-like brackets have been said to have an “Old West” feeling.
