The bundle includes extended digital revivals of four original typefaces which were in use by printers during the 1880s and 1890s:
A slightly modified revival of "Reklame Kursiv" by the Benjamin Krebs Nachfolger Type Foundry of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Arcticus is characterized by distinguished capitals, powerful swooshes, and includes alternative ascenders and descenders for most characters which enable you to conform them to one another. The letterforms are heavily based on the original typeface, however, vertical lines have been straightened slightly to give the font a more uniform look. Arcticus comes in two variations (Regular & Outlined) replicating the two original choices available during the 1890s.
An all-caps display serif originally designed and sold under the same name by the Schelter & Giesecke Type Foundry of Leipzig, Germany from the 1880s onwards. Pretiosa's most dominant characteristic is its width which makes it perfect for fine print and filling wider rows. The original typeface also came in a layered variation with a halftone background under the name "Pretiosa Schildschrift". This variation was used by typesetters and printers for display purposes and is provided in an .AI format for Adobe Illustrator.
Coming in its two original weights (Regular & Bold) as well as a decorated version (Hollow), Amabilis Veneriana is a digital revival of "Carmen" by the Bauer & Comp. Type Foundry of Stuttgart, Germany. The original typeface first appeared around 1890. The name is a mixture of Latin and Italian and is a dedication to a very special person.
Originally designed and sold by the Central Type Foundry of St Louis, Missouri during the 1880s, Lafayette is a typeface which was copied around the world, sold under different names, and also modified to have different weights and variations. This bundle includes a digital revival of its original variation.
