VDL-GigaJr is a “junior” variant of VDL-GigaG, designed with simple, straight lines, as if composed of fragments of paper tape. The central theme of this type design project was “Enjoy, and be free!” The kana syllabic characters and alphanumeric glyphs were freshly designed with straight lines and arcs in order to harmonize with the clear-cut design of its ideographic characters. VDL-GigaJr will stimulate the senses of creative professionals, and help them to produce effective graphic expressions.

The ethos of Visual Design Laboratory (VDL) is to balance the natural beauty of letterforms with rigorous standards for readability and legibility. VDL offers a comprehensive collection known as “VDL Designers Fonts” (VDLデザイナーズフォント), which is sure to resonate with designers seeking a typeface that’s highly individual while maintaining a broad appeal.
