The Vietnamese language have been developed and transformed throughout every period of Vietnamese history. Nowadays, Vietnamese language has been completed and used all over S-shaped country, which is also known as “Quốc Ngữ” (National Language).
Being an unique language compared to other Asian countries which use non-Latin languages, “Quốc Ngữ” uses Latin characters including: a ă â b c d đ e ê g h i k l m n o ô ơ p q r s t u ư v x y combined with six tones comprising: Sắc (rising tone), Huyền (falling tone), Hỏi (Falling rising tone), Ngã (High rising tone), Nặng (dot tone), Ngang (flat tone).
By creating a new and distinctive appearance for Vietnamese characters, we got an idea to combine Asian hieroglyphs with Latin characters but not lose their origin. Inspired by Vietnamese conception of circle, considered as the sky and square as the ground, YEN typeface herein was created.
